VIDEO: Harvest time at the White House garden

First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed students from across the United States to the White House South Lawn on Monday to show them how food could be harvested and then cooked into a delicious meal.

Mrs. Obama told the students they had been selected to attend the harvest because of their schools' involvement with community gardening, and encouraged ongoing gardening as healthy physical activity and a way to achieve a balanced diet.

The White House said Mrs. Obama's vegetable garden in the South Lawn was launched as a national conversation starter about health and well-being when it was planted in 2009 that later became her 'Let's Move!' initiative.

Monday's picnic in the South Lawn was made with the help of TV chef, Rachel Ray, and students from Wisconsin, Colorado and Louisiana participated.
