Bison baseball riding momentum to defend Summit League Tournament title

"T.O.’s (NDSU head baseball coach, Tyler Oakes) has been preaching the whole season about being gritty and taking the adversity with us, and it’s been working in our favor,” said senior catcher Logan Williams.

This season, the odds were stacked against NDSU baseball.

Tyler Oakes began his first season as head coach for the Bison. The team lost eight seniors, five of which were position player starters, and 40 of 47 games were played on the road.

An exciting finish to PGA Championship for Fargo's Tom Hoge

After ending the first round of the 2022 PGA Championship tied for second at 4-under par, Fargo's Tom Hoge seemed to see the bottom fall out of his tournament chances the next day with a 4-over par round that dropped him into a tie for 23rd.

But the player known to have a lot of North Dakota grit to his game shook it off and climbed back up the leaderboard over the weekend's final 36 holes, any tournament's toughest stretch.

His son died from COVID. Now this 76-year-old marathoner runs in his memory.

Chuck Roos had never heard of a marathon before 1980. Now, the 76-year-old runner, who has run in every Fargo Marathon since its inception, will run in memory of his son Kyle, who died in 2020 from COVID-19.

Former NDSU quarterback Quincy Patterson transferring to Temple

Quincy Patterson will have one more chance to play quarterback at the FBS level.

The former North Dakota State quarterback told ESPN on Wednesday night he is transferring to Temple. Patterson started seven games for the Bison, winning each of those games before Cam Miller took over in the third quarter of NDSU's game against Missouri State.

Patterson tallied six passing touchdowns, seven rushing scores, along with four interceptions.

Hillsboro's Gannon Limke fulfilling lifelong dream as Bison walk-on commitment

Gannon Limke said he's always wanted to play college basketball at North Dakota State, so he did something about it. He called head coach Dave Richman.

"I reached out to coach Richman and told him it was my lifelong dream to play for the Bison. I felt like I had a chance to play there," Limke said. "He gave me the opportunity to be a walk-on and join the program."

Fargo Marathon week kicks off with the Fargo Cyclothon

Fargo Marathon week kicked off today with the Fargo Cyclothon.

Hundreds of people gathered outside the north side Buffalo Wild Wings for the 26.2 mile race. The course included a loop of Fargo North, Harwood and Moorhead.

Fargo native, Sean Tostenson, competed in his first ever bike race and beat out the rest of the competition crossing the finish line first.

42 players take the field in Minnesota Vikings rookie minicamp

42 players including: all 10 of Minnesota's draft picks, college free agents and select returnees, took to the field on Friday to participate in the beginning of the Minnesota Vikings rookie minicamp.

The day consisted of a hour and a half practice filled with position drills, walk-through installations and 7 on 7 passing drills.

UND completes 2022-23 season roster with Union transfer Ryan Sidorski

The Fighting Hawks picked up a commitment this week from Union senior defenseman Ryan Sidorski to be the eighth and final blue liner, replacing Brady Ferner who is expected to sign a pro contract.

Sidorski, who is from the Buffalo, N.Y., suburb of Williamsville, will graduate from Union in June with a double major in neuroscience and economics. He has one year of college eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound defensive defenseman played 97 games at Union, tallying one goal and five points. Sidorski was fourth on Union in ice time last season, playing an average of 17 minutes, 55 seconds per game.

Wild at risk of elimination after a 5-2 loss to the Blues in Game 5

In a span of 1 minute, 28 seconds on Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center, Blues winger Vladimir Tarasenko took complete control of the game with a pair of goals. He finished with a natural hat trick, and in the process, the Blues took complete control of the series.

Despite some incredible play from Kaprizov, especially in the opening 20 minutes, the Wild suffered a 5-2 loss to the Blues in Game 5 . They now trail 3-2 in the best-of-seven series and will be on the brink of elimination heading back to St. Louis for Game 6.
