McVille, N.D. -- I was out looking at fields early this (Friday) evening, and came across this wheat field planted to sunflowers last year. The plants are dancing in a stiff breeze that promises to bring in rain.
I'm not saying it's the best wheat field you'll see in the Upper Midwest. (And I'm certainly not saying this iPad photo is anything special.) I'm saying the field was planted fairly early and benefitted from several timely rains, allowing it to get off to a good start.
A long way until harvest, of course. But this field holds hope.
It's early, but encouraging.
