ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- Minnesota usually is associated with lakes and trees, corn and soybeans. At this time of year, the state often is linked to the NFL Vikings.
But cattle are important in Minnesota, too. And so I'm here at the Minnesota State Cattlemen's Association annual convention in Alexandria, Minn., to gather the insights of industry leaders, economists, politicians and scientists. I attended the 2017 convention, too, in Bloomington, and found it both interesting and informative. So I'm back this year, this time in Alexandria. Bloomington was nice enough, but as a North Dakota-farm kid, I prefer much-smaller Alexandria.
