I utterly lack aptitude and ability for cooking. The only thing that will draw me into the kitchen is making chokecherry syrup.

Chokecherries are found throughout much of the United States, including big chunks of Agweek country. These were picked in North Dakota’s Nelson County near the Sheyenne River.

I won’t go into the details of making chokecherry syrup. Let’s just it’s a lot of work. It includes converting chokecherry juice (image at the bottom) into the syrup. But the results justify the effort.

Yeah, I know. Small grains harvest is vastly more important than picking chokecherries and making syrup. But I’m just one of many folks in Agweek country who enjoy chokecherries. If you’re one of them, too, drop me a line.
