While the next print edition of Agweek magazine may not look, feel or read differently for Agweek subscribers, Agri News subscribers will receive their first Agweek.
Coming from a farm family and rural area, I know change can be difficult for us. We like things around us to stay the same. Yet we also know we need to evolve and change to improve and advance our farms, ranches and agribusinesses.
As publisher of Agweek, I believe Agweek is creating a stronger ag media brand by combining with Agri News and will continue to deliver you trusted and reliable agriculture news. Together, Agweek and Agri News combine 79 years of agriculture news expertise and harvest the experience of journalists who bring more than a combined 225 years of agriculture experience. We report agriculture news and also live, work and come from farms, ranches and communities across Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.
What Agweek produces is niche content and advertising for a specific group of readers and advertiser on farms and ranches, and in agriculture business and rural communities. Even if you aren’t living and working in ag, agriculture impacts all of our lives. Never before have non-agriculture consumers and mainstream media been more interested in knowing and understanding where food comes from. With that interest comes a call to report agriculture news in a manner that is accurate and representative of the farms, ranches and agribusinesses in our region.
Agweek is more than work — it is a passion for our team. We love agriculture. We also believe in journalism and specifically, agriculture journalism. Today Agweek creates the strongest agriculture news outlet and resource to you in the Upper Midwest, supported by our fifth-generation, family-owned parent company, Forum Communications Company. I know from working in agriculture across North America that a family-owned media company being committed to agriculture news is unique and it makes me a proud fifth-generation farm girl.

As an Agweek subscriber and reader, you will notice a wider regional focus on agriculture news featured daily on agweek.com and on the Agweek app, as well as in Agweek magazine and on AgweekTV. Our editorial team now includes agriculture journalist Noah Fish based in Rochester, Minn. Fish’s cover story in the March 9 edition looks at how family farms in Minnesota have recovered from barn collapses that plagued the state in last winter's heavy snow. Longtime Agri News columnist and former editor Mychal Wilmes continues his weekly columns. You'll also see several other Agri News contributors in Agweek's mix of content.
Agweek magazine is delivered to 31,356 homes weekly and will continue to provide the deep agriculture coverage of news, opinion and market insights our subscribers have come to expect and read for the past 35 years. AgweekTV touts high ratings and growth and soon will have a wider coverage area across the region. Agweek stories and full episodes of AgweekTV are always available on agweek.com .
Last fall, we launched the Agweek podcast, hosted by Alec Winmill and Jenny Schlecht. The weekly podcast delivers a behind-the-scenes look to how some of our reporting and stories have come together, what is coming up in Agweek magazine and on AgweekTV and an interview with personalities from Upper Midwest agriculture. The Agweek app is available anytime on your smartphone or tablet to keep up to date with daily agriculture news updates. Wherever you want to receive agriculture news, opinions and market insights, Agweek delivers to you.
Many of you have been reading my column weekly since 2015. This week is a change from the usual Pinke Post. Your recent outpouring of kindness and support as our family adjusts after our son’s spinal cord injury has been like nothing I can fit into my column word count. Yes, the Agweek team delivers trusted agriculture news to readers and high valued advertising to clients, but I see Agweek differently now. You’re a fiercely loyal and kind community. Thank you.
I plan to attend the Agri News farm show in Rochester March 10-11 for our Agweek launch event and hope to meet many readers and viewers then. If you won’t be there, I would love to hear your feedback on Agweek and story ideas from your area. An email to kpinke@agweek.com or a tweet to @katpinke reaches me.
