I exchanged emails today with a North Dakota farmer who is cautiously ecstatic -- the combination may be an oxymoron, but you get the basic idea -- about his 2019 crop. His planting window worked out well, and his fields have enjoyed a lot of moisture. And so his crop "has the potential for best overall crop we ever had," he wrote. "We thank God for the rain and how it has treated us this year."
Many area farmers, of course, have suffered from far too much rain this growing season.
The North Dakota farmer's email is yet another reminder that farming is much more enjoyable and successful when nature cooperates.
