I get a lot of emails from public relations agencies, pitching products and services sold by their clients. A recent email - I won’t identify the agency or client - included this remarkable statement:
“In 2017, agriculture will be fully embraced, moving towards providing food stability across the globe and working out discrepancies regarding GMOs.”
Well, that’s an appealing prediction, at least to me. As an aggie, I’d sure like to have ag fully embraced. As someone who thinks GMOs are safe, I’d welcome having those ‘discrepancies’ worked out.
But, c’mon, we all know that critics of agriculture and GMOs aren’t going away anytime soon. To say that ag will be “fully embraced” is in the “when-pigs-have-wings” and “when-pigs-can-fly” category.
And, no, I’m not biting on the p.r. agency’s pitch.
