The weather has been miserably cold and wet lately. So much so that, in fact, the month of May so far is running about a degree and a half WARMER than average and about an inch DRIER than average.
It is not the weather that has gone bad. It is our weather memories. True enough; the weather the past few days has not been at all warm and sunny. The weekend was especially cold and damp. Saturday’s high was 52 with a low of 40. Sunday’s high was 56 with a low of 39. Both days were 12 degrees below average. But the most anomalous day this month was the previous Sunday, when the high of 86 and low of 58 was 15 degrees warmer than average.
All of this is warmer and drier and colder and wetter is actually quite NORMAL for this time of year. May is spring and spring weather is changeable and unsettled.
