In addition to being much warmer than average, this winter has been much sunnier than average. The early part of winter, in particular, was extraordinarily sunny for our region. November and December are usually the cloudiest months of the year, with an average of 12 sunny days, 13 partly cloudy days, and 36 cloudy days out of 61. This year there were 25 sunny days, 14 partly cloudy days, and just 22 cloudy days. January and February average 13 sunny days, 15 partly cloudy day, and 32 cloudy days for the 60 day period. This year, there were 13 sunny days, 29 partly cloudy days, and just 19 cloudy days. Compared to average, these four winter months have produced 12 more sunny days, 15 more partly cloudy days, and 27 fewer cloudy days.
