Temperatures in the 70s in March are rare and out of character but we got one this year when it was 75 on March 15.
How about 90 degrees in April? It can happen. The last time was on April 30, 1992, when it was 94 degrees. It was 91 on April 23, 1990. It was 90 on April 18, 1987. In 1980 it was 94 on April 20 and then 100 on April 21.
Prior to 1980, you have to go back to April 27, 1910, when it was 92. And there is one 90 degree April day from the 1800s. It got to 91 on April 25, 1891.
The interesting thing about 90 degree weather in April is that almost all of the examples are from the 1980s and early 1990s. This was a very dry period, allowing for drier topsoil.
But there are no 90 degree records from the extremely dry 1930s. Summers were scorching hot in the 30s, but not the springs, apparently.
