HANOI - Vietnam, the world's third-largest rice exporter, will ship an estimated 6.7 million tonnes of the grain this year, up 5.8 percent from 2014, the Agriculture Ministry said on Friday, in line with market expectations.

Rice export revenue is estimated at $2.85 billion, down 2.9 percent from 2014, the ministry said in a monthly report.

Its estimate excludes the rice sold to top buyer China via the land border, which the Vietnam Food Association has projected at 1.5 million tonnes in 2015.

The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization has revised up its forecast of Vietnam's rice exports in 2015 to 8.3 million tonnes, up 3.75 percent from last year and from its earlier projection of 7.8 million tonnes.
