Norway is being hit by heavy flooding following the storm Synne which battered the southern and western parts of the country in recent days.

The counties of Agder and Rogaland have been worst hit by flooding. Winds blew with strong gale force over the weekend, but it was a heavy downpour that caused most damage. Eik, in the town of Lund saw a new record of downpour for the area with 178mm (over 7 inches) ofrain over a two-day period.

The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) say it is the worst flooding in Egersund since records began in 1897. They have reported 30 mudslides in the Southern and Western parts of Norway as a result of the storm.

E39, the main road between the cities of Kristiansand and Stavanger was closed on Sunday (Dec. 6). And ferry services were disrupted.
