ATWATER, Minn. -- A 79-year-old Atwater man died just before noon Thursday after his riding lawn mower tipped over in a ditch, pinning him underneath it.
Law enforcement identified him as George Frederick Klose Jr., and said he lived near the accident scene just west of Atwater in west-central Minnesota.
The man’s wife called emergency responders. Paramedics arrived minutes later, but the man was pronounced dead.
Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog said Klose probably was not mowing at the time of the accident.
