FARGO, N.D. -- The Agriculture Department says a week of warm, dry weather in North Dakota has helped harvest progress.

The agency says in its weekly crop report that the soybean and dry bean harvests are nearly complete, while a third of the sunflower crop is in the bin.

The USDA says the corn harvest was only 11 percent complete, compared with 73 percent last year and the long-term average of 69 percent.

The report says ranchers spent most of last week cutting silage, weaning calves and moving cattle to fall pastures.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 48 percent poor or very poor.
