A spark that came off train wheels is believed to have started a small brush fire near Patterson Lake Thursday evening.
Curtis Faulhaber of the Dickinson Rural Fire Department said three engines responded to the fire, which burned approximately 1 acre of land on a section line just outside of Dickinson. Faulhaber said the fire was out about 10 minutes after he arrived and that spark fires happen about four or five times a year, depending on how much moisture is in the ground.
There were no injuries.
