BROOKINGS, S.D. - SDSU Extension and South Dakota State University invite you to attend 2017 Managing the Margins Workshop Series beginning March 3, 2017 on the campus of SDSU in Brookings.
"This workshop series is developed to foster continual knowledge, building from session to session," said Lisa Elliott, series coordinator and Assistant Professor & SDSU Extension Commodity Marketing Specialist.

Space is limited at 24 participants per session. Sessions will be held on the SDSU campus in 139 Berg Agricultural Hall (148 Medary Avenue). To register, visit iGrow.org/events. To cover costs, registration fee is $300 per person for Sessions I-IV.
Sessions will be held March 3, 17, 24 and 31. Each session will run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Session details
Session I (March 3, 2017) - Using Fundamental and Technical Market Information to Enhance Marketing Performance: This session will focus on understanding the influence of fundamentals (e.g. ending stocks) and technical information (e.g. moving averages) on price and using fundamental and technical indicators to enhance marketing strategy performance.
Session II (March 17, 2017) Using Elevator Contracts, Futures, and Options to Manage and Monitor Portfolio Value-At-Risk: This session will focus on identifying marketing strategies given price risk tolerance (coupled with yield risk, production costs, operation financial indicators, and insurance).

Session III (March 24, 2017) Aligning Futures and Options Marketing Strategies according to Risk Preferences (pre-harvest):This session will focus on marketing strategies and triggers in a rule-based marketing plans. Evaluations for representative case study farms.
Session IV (March 31, 2017) Aligning Futures and Options Strategies according to Risk Preferences (post-harvest): This session will focus on marketing strategies and triggers in a rule-based marketing plan. Evaluations for representative case study farms.
Participants who attend all four individual topic sessions will receive a certificate of training completion.
