FARGO, N.D. – Trucks supplying fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, shelf-stable items and more will be in the communities of Mayville, N.D., as well as Hatton, N.D., on Wednesday, December 28, as part of the Great Plains Food Bank Perishable Food Distribution program. Anyone in need of food assistance in each community or neighboring communities are welcome to attend and receive food at no cost.

The Perishable Food Distribution will make its first stop in the parking lot of May-Port CG High School (900 Main Street West) from 10 a.m. until noon before moving to St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton (420 7th Street) from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Anyone attending is asked to bring their own box or bag to take with what they need.

“The Perishable Food Distribution fills a strong need and puts food directly into the hands of those that need it most,” Great Plains Food Bank Regional Services Manager Andrea Block, who services Mobile Food Pantries and Perishable Food Distributions in eastern North Dakota, said. “This is all about convenience for the consumer. They know exactly when and where there will be fresh and nutritious food available. We want to make it as easy as we can for those who need help to be able to get it.”

These Perishable Food Distributions and Mobile Food Pantries are among 17 happening across North Dakota and Clay County, Minn., through the end of the year.
