DICKINSON, N.D. - To begin this letter, I am still saddened by all the good Stark County property taxpayers for their great loss caused by the rejection of the first NextEra wind project in North Dakota.
This wind farm would be up and producing electric power this month and would have been constructed on a near-perfect weather year.
I gave the easement for the transmission line and was treated fairly. I have given many easements in the past and rate NextEra No. 1.
I am very fortunate to be in on NextEra’s Brady Wind farm on my property. Once again, the company has treated me well.
The concerned citizens talk about the problems caused by wind farms. We all like the lifestyle we have. This is made possible by all forms of energy. To keep this, we all have to put up with inconvenience.
If this project is built, it sure would help the economic slowdown of southwest North Dakota.
My grandparents, parents and my family have been Stark County taxpayers on property we own for many years. Don’t we have any rights?
The Stark County Commission spent many hours making rules to regulate wind farms in the county and put in place some of the strictest in the state. NextEra followed these rules on the rejected project and I’m sure the company will do the same on the Brady Wind farm.
When the zoning board and the county commission meet, I sure would appreciate a positive vote, and hope all the citizens of Stark County are represented.
To the concerned citizens, since you want to tell me what to do with my property, can I do the same with yours?
P.S. Listen to the news and hear what the plan is for our coal-fired electric plants, the concerned politicians’ plan. Get ready for a life change.
