North Dakota State University's Carrington Research Extension Center again is looking for a key animal nutritionist.

Anna R. Taylor, who had been named to the position last November, has resigned to take a position with Cargill Animal Nutrition in Elk River, Minn. Her final day in Carrington was March 27.

Blaine Schatz, the superintendent for the Carrington station, says he learned of the resignation at the beginning of the month. He says he'd hoped Taylor would have been able to stay in the position longer, as it is one of the few nutrition posts of its type in a state that has been trying to grow its cattle-feeding industry.

Taylor holds a bachelor's degree in animal science, a master's in reproductive physiology and a doctorate in ruminant nutrition and meat science, all from South Dakota State University in Brookings. She was hired for the post when Vern Anderson, retired in March 2014, after serving in Carrington since 1986, and at NDSU since 1979. Among other things, Anderson had become an important source of information for cattlemen wanting to know how to use byproducts from the region's ethanol and grains processing companies.
