FREEPORT, Minn. - A Freeport man was rescued Tuesday afternoon from a skid loader that was submerged in an abandoned manure pit.
According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Duane Herzog, 46, was operating a skid loader when it went through ice that was covering a manure pit on Herzog's farm site.
The skid loader was completely submerged and Herzog was trapped inside.
Rescue personnel were able to rescue Herzog, who was transported by Life Link helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Upsala rescue squad, Melrose ambulance and Life Link responded to the scene of the accident, which was reported at 1:53 p.m. in Krain Township in Stearns County.
