A successful inaugural event of livestock last year will be repeated at Big Iron but with more exhibitors.
Last year was a success for both visitors and exhibitors, said Billy Hoffman of Wheatland, N.D., who coordinates the event.
About 12 more exhibitors will be attending the 2007 event. Cattle from eastern North Dakota and possibly some from South Dakota will be on hand. Hoffman expects 180 cow-calf pairs representing Hereford, Charolais, Limousin and possibly Shorthorn breeds.
On Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m., visitors can listen to three livestock-focused symposiums by the North Dakota State University Extension Service. Presentations will include flax feeding, trichomoniasis (venereal disease that causes infertility) in cattle, and the use of ethanol byproducts in beef cattle diets.
Livestock exhibits and displays run all three days of Big Iron from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
