Megan Jones of Bowdon received the 2015 U.S. Durum Growers Association’s $1,000 Scholarship. She is a student at North Dakota State University majoring in crop and weed sciences.

Jones was involved in and received awards in FFA, 4-H and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America in high school. She currently is a member of the Post-Secondary Agricultural Students, Collegiate FFA, Saddle & Sirloin and Agronomy clubs at NDSU. After college, Jones plans to work for an agricultural company or research center and partner in her family’s farm operations. She is the daughter of Todd and Jackie Jones.

“It is important that USDGA continues to encourage the next generation to pursue careers in agriculture,” USDGA President Russell Doe says. “It’s an honor to award this scholarship to a very deserving recipient.”

The USDGA Scholarship was established by the association in 2014 in order to offer another scholarship opportunity to agriculture students in durum-producing states. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be from a durum-producing state, be a full-time college student pursuing a degree in agriculture and have an affiliation with the durum industry.
