DUBAI - Iran has bought 4.2 million metric tons of wheat from domestic farmers this year in state-sponsored purchases, the Ministry of Agriculture said on Monday, a 20 percent increase from the same period last year.
"The wheat purchase ... from beginning the harvest season until June 20, has reached 4,213,000 metric tons, which shows a 20 percent increase compared with last year," the state news agency IRNA quoted a ministry statement.
