This  news release  was sent to me today. It involves a University at Buffalo study that finds barley can be "a medical imaging drink" that provides "an ideal and safe contrast agent for diagnosing swallowing disorders."

More than 15 million Americans suffer from swallowing disorders, according to the release.

As the study's author notes, barley has been grown for thousands of year -- and only now has this new use been identified.
