Here are two more things for farmers and ranchers to put on their winter to-do list:

The Farm Service Agency, an arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, reminds producers to inform it of any unreported changes of address or ZIP code or if they have an incorrect name or business name on file. Changes in farm operations -- such as the addition of a farm being leased or purchased or land ownership moved into a trust -- need to be reported as well.

Producers with unreported changes should contact their local FSA office, the agency says.

Also, FSA is accepting applications for the 2017 Agricultural Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs, the safety net programs established by the 2014 farm bill.

Shares and ownership of a farm can change from year to year, so producers on the farm must enroll by signing a contract each program year, FSA says.

Contact your local FSA office to sign up. Some offices take appointments, some don't.
