Thousands of turkeys lost in barn fire near Frazee, Minn.

FRAZEE, Minn. – Thousands of turkeys are dead after an early-morning fire broke out at a barn near here Thursday, May 3.

The fire started about 7 a.m., according to Frazee Fire Chief Albert Doll. Five nearby fire departments were called in to help extinguish the massive blaze.

It’s estimated that 6,000 to 8,000 turkeys were lost in the fire. The turkeys were owned by New Life Farms of Perham, Minn.

A state fire marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
