The Oliver County Ag Extension Department is hosting a Drought Management Workshop on Friday, July 14, at the Morton County Fairgrounds in New Salem. The program features several speakers that will provide information for Producers as they deal with the effects of the drought on their crops and livestock. The workshop schedule is as follows:

  • 9:30        Extension’s Role with Drought Management by Rick Schmidt, Oliver County Extension Agent and Marissa Leier, Agent in Training
  • 9:45        Farm Service Agency and the Livestock Forage Program by Cliff Orgaard, FSA Director for Oliver and Mercer Counties and Matt Stanger, County Operations Trainee
  • 10:00     Crop Insurance Presentation by Doug Goehring, Ag Commissioner for North Dakota
  • 10:30     Nutritional and Alternative Feed Options by Janna Kincheloe, Beef Cattle Specialist at the Hettinger Research Station
  • 11:00     Animal Care and House Bill 1134 by Dr. Beth Carlson, Deputy State Veterinarian, ND Department of Agriculture
  • 11:30     Early Weaning Considerations by R. Patrick Bierman, Mandan Veterinary Clinic
