WINNIPEG -- The Canadian Wheat Board is predicting a better crops this year.
The agency expects western wheat and durum crops will total 21.2 million tonnes.
That's up 3.7 million tonnes from last year, but still one million tonnes below the five-year average.
The board says recent rains have helped, but a cool spring with temperatures three to five degrees below normal has put crops up to two weeks behind schedule.
Canadian producers may face stiffer competition this year.
