Ann Brekke-Dietchman, Finley-Sharon, N.D., family and consumer sciences teacher, was named the 2007 North Dakota Farm Bureau Educator of the Year at the NDFB Annual Convention and Exposition. The award is designed to recognize teachers who provide excellence in education and make substantial contributions to North Dakota's communities and education system. As the winner, Brekke-Dietchman will travel to the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Costa Mesa, Calif., in June.
Joe Delvo joins N.D. Trade Office -- BISMARCK, N.D. Joe Delvo has joined the North Dakota Trade Office, where he will work with the state's ag equipment manufacturers and dealers to expand sales in the international marketplace. Delvo has more than 25 years of experience in the agriculture equipment industry. Throughout his career, Delvo has managed domestic and international sales for U.S. and foreign agriculture equipment companies. Most recently, Delvo directed used equipment sales for RDO Equipment Co.'s northern ag division. At the Trade Office, Delvo will lead international sales strategies for a wide range of North Dakota agriculture equipment in markets throughout the world. His primary focus will be countries of the former Soviet Union where governments and private business are expanding their agricultural industries and are in great demand for new and used farm equipment for large-scale production. Delvo will work in Fargo.
Montana Farmers Union elects president, board-- GREAT FALLS, Mont. Alan Merrill of Big Sandy, Mont., was re-elected as president of the Montana Farmers Union at its 92nd annual meeting and convention this fall in Great Falls, Mont. Merrill will serve a two-year term. Merrill and his wife, Lorrie, are organic farmers southeast of Big Sandy. Others elected: District 1: Leonard Stone, Geraldine, Mont.; District 3: Lyle Schwarzrock, Poplar, Mont.; District 5: Dan Downs, Molt, Mont.; Conductor, Herb Vasseur, Chinook, Mont.; and Doorkeeper, John Wendland, Rudyard, Mont. National Farmers Union convention delegates are Bill Courtnage and Randy Roudebush, both of Geraldine; and Tina Laas, Chester, Mont. Alternates are Mel Vegge, Glasgow; and Herb Vasseur, Chinook. Youth delegate is Raelee Bishop, Brady, Mont.
