An informational meeting regarding the proposed expansion of a beef feedlot is planned for next Monday, Aug. 15. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Millerville Township Hall, 16560 County Road 7 NW, Brandon.
Joe Wagner will host the meeting to discuss details regarding the expansion of his existing beef facility, which is located near County Road 7 NW, Brandon. He plans to expand his existing 679 animal unit (AU) beef cattle feedlot to 6,800 AUs of beef cattle.
The proposed plans include the construction of two total confinement barns with 12-foot deep concrete manure storage pits, two total confinement monoslope barns with manure pack bays, an open lot area with runoff controls and a small monoslope partial confinement barn for additional shelter, a working building and a concrete feed storage area.
Wagner also plans to construct two geosynthetic clay-lined ponds to contain surface water runoff from the open lots and feed storage areas at the facility.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) posted the required public notice for a 30-day comment period for the MPCA feedlot permit and the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) on July 18, which will end Aug. 17.
