LONGUEUIL, Que. -- Agropur said Tuesday it has signed a deal to buy Schroeder Milk, a milk processing company in Maplewood, Minn., in a move to build its U.S. operations.
The Quebec dairy co-operative said the operation will continue under the name Schroeder Milk and will be overseen by the current president.
"This most recent acquisition is in line with Agropur's growth strategy and is the first U.S. venture for Agropur Division Natrel, our fluid milk division," Agropur CEO Pierre Claprood said in a statement.
Schroeder is a 124-year-old provider of dairy products, and contract and specialty food packaging.
Agropur had 5,000 employees and 27 plants across Canada, and in the United States and Argentina.
