The Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. approved New Job Training Fund Assistance for a local truck accessory manufacturer. The assistance will also require approval by the Jamestown City Council and the Stutsman County Commission.
Joan Morris, controller for Agri-Cover Inc., told the JSDC Board of Directors Monday the company is planning a 58,000-square-foot expansion to its existing facility. The new expansion will be used to produce a new aluminum box cover that the company will offer.
The cost of the project is still being researched, Morris said.
Construction is expected to begin in spring 2017. The expansion will employ 43 new people who will be hired over the next five years. Starting wages will average between $13 and $14 per hour, Morris said.
Connie Ova, CEO of the JSDC, said the New Job Training Fund will collect the North Dakota state income tax withholdings from the new employees and pay it back to Agri-Cover for the next 10 years or until $93,000 has been refunded to the company.

In other business, the JSDC Board approved retaining Schauer & Associates, P.C. CPAs, to perform the next two annual audits of the organization. The JSDC had also received proposals from Eide Bailly and Brady Martz for audit services. Schauer & Associates, P.C. CPAs, was selected based on the cost of the audit, said Bob Toso, JSDC Board president.
Schauer & Associates, P.C. CPAs, has performed JSDC's audit for most of the years the organization has existed, Ova said.
Toso also reported he had compiled Ova's job performance evaluations that were filled out by each board member.
"Each area of the evaluation was above average," Toso said. "The overall evaluation was above average."
