AMBOY, Minn. — Authorities have recovered the body of a 92-year-old man presumed drowned while clearing a drainage ditch west of Amboy in south-central Minnesota.
The body of Marvin Borkenhagen, 92, of rural Amboy was found Tuesday morning, March 26, about 1 1/2 miles downstream from where he is believed to have fallen in, according to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office.
The search for Borkenhagen began Thursday evening after someone reported his unoccupied vehicle parked near a ditch a half-mile west of the intersection of county roads 32 and 144. Family members and friends who are familiar with the area helped authorities search.
Investigators believe Borkenhagen was attempting to clear a field culvert that empties into the ditch. A tool Borkenhagen is known to use was found in water near the culvert.
Amboy is about 25 miles south of Mankato.
