Two drivers badly hurt when beet trucks collide near Felton
FELTON, Minn. — Emergency crews were called to an injury crash near here about 6:17 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, after two sugar beet trucks collided at an intersection.
The collision occurred at 110th Street North and 160th Avenue North, near Felton, according to Lt. Mark Empting with the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
Empting said one truck had just unloaded its sugar beets at the nearby Felton sugar beet pile while the other truck was loaded with beets and headed to the pile.
He said both drivers suffered serious injuries, with one being driven to the hospital by ambulance and the other flown to the hospital by helicopter.
Empting said traffic was routed around the crash scene while crews cleaned up the beets and worked to remove the trucks.
The crash remains under investigation
