AURORA CENTER, S.D. - Firefighters were on scene for nearly two hours working on a portion of a barn that caught fire Monday.

Stickney Fire Chief Jeff Sauvage said firefighters received the call at about 2:10 p.m. and were on scene at the fire about one-quarter mile east of Aurora Center.

There was straw bales, but not machinery, in the building. The barn had two halves, and firefighters were able to save one-half of the structure.

Aurora Center is about 12 miles southwest of Stickney, or 41 miles southwest of Mitchell.
