RHAME -- Around 4,000 barrels of source water spilled Tuesday at a Denbury Onshore well site in Bowman County that has a history of problems.
Roughly 168,000 gallons of source water, which is higher in dissolved solids and minerals than fresh water, released into a dry creek bed about eight miles southwest of Rhame because of a pipeline leak, according to a statement by the North Dakota Department of Health.
The pipeline and wellsite, which is about six miles south of Marmarth, has been notorious for spills over the past three years. It was the site of a 2,000-barrel source water spill in September 2014. Two-hundred barrels of source water spilled there in February 2016, 213 barrels of source water spilled in December 2015, and 400 barrels spilled in October 2014.
The Department of Health is responding at the site and is working with the company on remediation plans.
