Robin Kinney has been named Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation’s membership and marketing director. Kinney, a Minnesota-native will direct and coordinate organization development, member growth and programs starting Feb. 1.

Kinney most recently served as the senior director of member engagement for the American Farm Bureau Federation.

“During a challenging year of virtual meetings, this opportunity is a blessing and has provided the perfect timing for me to return ‘home’ to family, friends and where I began with the Minnesota Farm Bureau," Kinney said.

Her extensive work experience in agriculture is impressive, said a press release announcing the appointment. Kinney has previously worked for the Minnesota Farm Bureau, was a former farm broadcaster, served as an assistant commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture from 2007-2011 and worked for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

“We are thrilled to have Robin come back to Minnesota Farm Bureau. Her wealth of experience in agriculture and her deep understanding and passion for Farm Bureau is going to be a huge asset to our organization,” said Karin Schaefer, MFBF executive director. “Robin is known for her ability to articulate the value of Farm Bureau to anyone and we could think of known one better to lead the Membership and Marketing team here at Minnesota Farm Bureau.”

Born and raised in St. Paul near the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, her family moved to the farm in the early 1970s. Kinney partnered with her family on a registered Jersey dairy near Buffalo, the K5 Ranch. She attended the University of Minnesota in St. Paul and remains active in several agriculture related organizations and is a life member of the FFA Alumni.

“I feel incredibly privileged to rejoin the dedicated staff serving Minnesota Farm Bureau members. I look forward to working with the leaders, members and team after nearly a decade away from the state," Kinney said. "The insight and experience provided by working with the national team and leaders has doubled my admiration for the strength of Farm Bureau’s grassroots structure at the local, state and national level."
