WASHINGTON -- Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and the Farm Service Agency have announced beginning and closing dates for landowners and farmers to adjust yields and reallocate base acres, and make a selection between the new Agricultural Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs. They are as follows:
•Base reallocation and yield updates Sept. 29 to Feb. 27.
•Choose between ARC and PLC: Nov. 17 to March 31.
•Sign contracts for 2014 and 2015 crop years: Mid-April through summer 2015.
•Payments for 2014 crop year, if needed: October 2015.

A Farm Service Agency spokesman noted that in addition to making the selection between ARC and PLC, which will last for the five years of the farm bill, farmers will have to sign up each year to participate in the program.
