A new study makes the case for increased federal funding on agricultural research.
The report, ““Retaking the Field: The Case for a Surge in Agricultural Research,” was prepared by 13 universities and the Supporters of Agricultural Research (SoAR) Foundation, a nonpartisan coalition that promotes the importance of agricultural research.
Spending on agricultural research, both in the United States and worldwide, has been sluggish for years - going backward, even, when inflation is measured in. A wide range of agriculturalists have stressed the importance of ag research funding in meeting the challenge of feeding the world’s growing population.

The report advocates for more funding by looking at advances made already and the potential for new ones.
