A north central North Dakota agricultural tradition resumes Jan. 8 and 9 at the Memorial Building in Devils Lake, N.D.
The annual Lake Region Extension Roundup is expected to once again draw about 700 people to hear speakers on a wide range of agricultural topics, including tiling, weather, land values and cell phone applications.
Sessions on land values probably will be of particular interest, says Bill Hodous, Ramsey County Extension Service agent, who's helping to organize the annual event.
"There's just so much interest in land values this winter," he says.
A presentation on land values will be held on Jan. 8 and again on Jan. 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at noon both days. Presenters will be Dwight Aakre, Andy Swenson and Willie Huot, all with the North Dakota State University Extension Service.

All the sessions are free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Roundup began in 1984 and never has been canceled. It draws well regardless of weather conditions, Hodous says.
"It's like 'Field of Dreams' (a popular movie). If you build it, they will come," he says.
Each day starts at 8 a.m. with a free breakfast, with sessions beginning at 9:30 a.m. Each day features two dozen presentations, primarily from extension service officials and commodity group leaders.

Jan. 8:
• 10 a.m. -- An update from Neal Fisher, executive director of the North Dakota Wheat Commission.
• 1 p.m. -- A look at 2013 weather from Drew Lerner with World Weather Inc.

• 3 p.m. -- A look at what's new in soybean production from Hans Kandel of the NDSU Extension Service.
Jan. 9:
• 10 a.m. -- An update on the corn industry from Greg LaPlante of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association.
• 1 p.m. -- A look at cell phone applications for agriculture from John Nowatzki of the NDSU Extension Service.
• 2 p.m. -- A look at how the Canadian Wheat Board ruling will affect U.S. farmers by Frayne Olson of the NDSU
