WEST FARGO, N.D. -- Unverferth Manufacturing of Kalida, Ohio, was featuring a big selection of equipment, including the Brent "Avalanche" grain carts, made in Shell Rock, Iowa. The 2096 model is a 2,000-bushel capacity and full list value is $150,000, says Eric Myhre, territory manager. Before this year, the biggest was 1,500 bushels.
Eric Myhre of Sheyenne, N.D., is Unverferth's territory manager in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, and says the company has sold more than 25 of the 2,000-bushel grain carts in its inaugural marketing year.
Among its features are 1,000-bushel-per-minute unloading capacity, through a 24-inch auger, equipped with a pistol-grip control. The pivoting auger can reach into just about anything, Myhre says. It has steerable tandem axles or tracks. The tires are 960 by 38s.
"If you're really concerned about compactions, you can go with the tracks," he says.
The large size has been especially popular where farmers have two semi-trailers in the field and want to be able to fill them both. Some Canadian farmers who run "Super-B" grain trailers find the large quantity especially helpful.

Myhre says the 1,000-bushel grain carts still are the most popular size, followed by the 1,200 and 1,300 bushel models.
