BISMARCK - Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has reappointed Allan Aufforth, Bottineau, and Greg Machart, Grand Forks, as bee inspectors for 2011.
"Allan has been a seasonal bee inspector for the North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) for more than 25 years, and Greg has had the job for more than 15 years," Goehring said. "North Dakota beekeepers are fortunate to rely on the experience and expertise of these two veteran inspectors."
Aufforth and Machart will inspect bee colonies for Varroa mites and other parasites and diseases of bees. They will also assist NDDA's Plant Protection Division in conducting noxious weed efforts, including biological control activities and toadflax surveys
North Dakota is the leading honey state, producing more than one-fourth of the nation's honey supply.
