Brine spill of almost 20K gallons reported in northwest North Dakota
EPPING, N.D. — An equipment failure caused a brine spill at a well site in Williams County on Monday, Dec. 31, according to a statement released by the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division on Wednesday.
Whiting Oil and Gas Corp. reported that 469 barrels, or 19,698 gallons, of produced water spilled 10 miles southeast of Epping due to a valve connection leak. The brine was contained at the well site and cleanup is underway.
A state inspector has been to the site and will monitor cleanup.
