MENOKEN, N.D. — Menoken Farm will hold a garden and field tour and gardening educational sessions this month.

Menoken Farm is the Burleigh County Soil Conservation District’s (SCD) conservation demonstration site east of Bismarck, N.D.

Two events will be held on June 22:

  • The “Walk of Life” from 2 to 4 p.m. will features a walking tour of the Menoken farm gardens and a trailer ride to the fields to learn more about cover crops, soil health, rotational grazing and more. Presenters include Keith Knudson, Jay Fuhrer and Darrell Oswald.
  • “Gardening Local Treasures” from 5 to 7 p.m. will feature four rotating stations with the following speakers and topics.

Speakers at the Gardening Local Treasures portion of the day will be Keith Knudson on summer horticultural projects at Dakota College at Bottineau; Lori Martin on high-value crop production in protected environments; Hannah and Jonathon Moser and successional planting for constant, consistent harvests; and Roberta Thorson on matching produce varieties to your environment and business.

A complimentary dinner featuring locally-raised beef will be served at 7 p.m.
