BALATON, Minn. - Leaders of The trū® Shrimp Company will commission Balaton Bay Reef Training and Innovation Center on Aug. 22 in Balaton, Minn.
The 12,000 square-foot and 40-foot-tall Training and Innovation Center is the only of its kind in the world. The facility will be filled with shrimp and closed to the public following the celebration.
Commissioning is scheduled on the northeast side of the trū Shrimp Innovation Center in Balaton. A ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Public tours will begin at 5:00 p.m. The company won't allow photos or video. Tour-goers should wear comfortable shoes, but open-toed shoes and heeled shoes are prohibited.
Following the event, guests are invited to join the trū Shrimp team for refreshments in the Innovation Center's gymnasium.
The Reef will serve as an extension of the current innovation lab and will also be used to prepare employees for work at the Luverne Bay Harbor shrimp production facility to be built in Luverne, Minn. Groundwork to prepare the site for construction of Luverne Bay Harbor will begin this fall.
