DES MOINES, Iowa — The emerald ash borer is in Iowa.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture says the invasive insect, which kills ash trees, has been found along the Mississippi River in Allamakee (AL’-uh-muh-KEE’) County, just south of the Minnesota border.
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Agriculture plans to set nearly 23,000 gypsy moth traps across eastern Minnesota this spring.
It’s part of an annual program to monitor forests and cities for infestations of the destructive pest.
