The North Dakota Cattlewomen is sponsoring the 2010-2011 N.D. Beef Ambassador Contest March 24 at the Gateway Mall, Bismarck.
A cash prize of $500 is given to the North Dakota winner as well as an expense-paid trip to the national competition in Rapid City, S.D., in October. The contestants must be 17 but not over 20 by Jan. 1, 2011.
Dan Akey spoke at the last Rotary meeting. A Washington State University graduate, he worked in the eastern area of Oregon and has been in the potato and onion business. Akey is the director of operations at Cavendish Farms. He said he is excited about being a part of Cavendish in Jamestown. He said he and his wife have been welcomed by the community and they appreciate North Dakota values.
Red River Singles is hosting a dance at Johnson’s barn, 2 miles north of Arthur, N.D., on County Road 18, on Saturday. This is Western night.
Lute Simley, deejay, will provide music from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. A dance lesson will be at 8:30 p.m. Pop and food will be available. Those attending who wish to bring alcohol are asked to bring their own.
