WORTHINGTON — Ponder, for a moment, the cheese that comes perched atop your Big Mac or Whopper, depending on personal preference for McDonald’s or Burger King. It’s a good possibility that the milk that goes into creating that ooey-gooey yellow slice of goodness came from cows that live on the outskirts of Worthington.
Couple will compete for national honor WORTHINGTON — Matt and Teresa Widboom of rural Worthington will represent Minnesota in the Farm Bureau’s Excellence in Agriculture contest at the National Farm Bureau Association’s annual convention in San Antonio, Texas, in January.
To learn what’s on the minds of farmers and others involved in Minnesota agribusiness, Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson will host a listening session from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington’s Travelodge, 2015 N. Humiston Ave.
MARSHALL — Four area individuals have been selected as participants in the next Minnesota Agriculture and Rural Leadership (MARL) Program class.
Joe VanderKooi, a dairy and crop producer from rural Worthington; Louise Worm, an ag science teacher from Lakefield; Doug Westerman, Red Rock Rural Water System operations manager from Windom, and Monica Anderson, a corn and soybean producer from Walnut Grove, were among the 32 members selected for the class.
