North Dakota may soon be able to confirm its own cases of swine flu.
Probable state cases now must be confirmed by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. North Dakota’s state epidemiologist, Kirby Kruger, said the state is getting equipment to do the confirmations in its own lab. He hopes it will be ready by mid-June.

A Minot man who is one of North Dakota’s two confirmed cases of swine flu says he now has a clean bill of health.
Scott Strande said he began feeling sick on Mother’s Day and the next morning, he woke up with a temperature of around 102 degrees and was sweating, with a horrible cough. Tests confirmed swine flu.
A new pea and lentil processing facility could be running this summer near Granville.
The Granville Economic Development Corp. is asking Minot’s economic development fund for $19,500 in interest buydown money on a Bank of North Dakota PACE loan for Simcoe Grain Processors. The Minot fund’s screening committee meets Friday to discuss the application.
North Dakota has its first confirmed case of swine flu.
The state Health Department said a suspected case in a Burleigh County woman has been confirmed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as the H1N1 influenza virus, more commonly known as swine flu.
North Dakota also has a probable case of the swine flu in a Ward County resident. That case has not yet been confirmed by the CDC.
Bismarck planners have drawn up an ordinance to regulate small wind turbines in the city.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will consider it later this month, and the City Commission could hold a public hearing in June.
